Reachout Centre Trust through the collaboration between Kenya Red Cross Society, Global Fund Program and AMFREF, managed to sensitize its staffs from Mombasa, Kwale and Taita Taveta County on the iMonitor mobile technology application.
The iMonitor application is an innovative way of empowering the Key population and the community at large on instantly communication and any information related to AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (ATM).
The iMonitor attempts to ensure that real power of technology in the hand of the key population and the overall community and enable the construction of self-sustainable support structure. It is an innovative community- owned solution designed to fight against numerous diseases and epidemics across the globe.
In other words, iMonitor gives choice to the neglected population by providing a platform for interaction and communication across relevant stakeholders. It’s proven to be successful tool in supporting evidence -based advocacy and promoting meaningful dialogue between civil society and decision makers, widely fostering public accountability in a multitude of arenas. The objective is to reach critical mass pf users and communities, thereby unlocking the full potential of the collaboration channels between citizens and government.
In the context of HIV, iMonitor uses global positioning satellite technology to locate users, who can then receive information on where to access condoms, HIV testing, Counselling and treatment and the Key services. if there are out of stock of antiretroviral medicine and other HIV commodities, the users can send alert to a central dashboard and be directed in real time to other services nearby.
