Pre-World IDADA, Shimo la Tewa prison

Pre world International Day against Drug abuse and illicit trafficking under the theme LISTEN FIRST which is an initiative to increase and support for the prevention of drug use that is based on science and is thus an effective investment in the well-being of children and youth, their families and their communities.

We reached out to Women in Shimo la Tewa prison raising awareness on HIV &AIDS, Drugs and Substance abuse, Sexual reproductive health, HIV Testing, counseling  and clinical services.

There is a greater family shame dynamic that occurs when a woman goes to prison hence less support from the family as others have children who need our support to come out of the prison not with hatred but love.

Unlike men, women pose unique challenges that their male counterparts don’t, thence we supported them with hygiene packs which contains tooth brush, soap, toothpaste, sanitary towel, comb and panties.
